Emergency monitoring app (WHACK Hackathon)

This October I participated in the University of Warwick's hackathon - WHACK; it was my first ever hackathon. The experience was very valuable both in terms of technical skills, as well as teamwork and collaboration. Not being a brilliant software engineer, I was quite intimidated by the idea of creating software solutions in just 24 hours. It turned out to be lots of fun!

My team and I ended up competing in Fetch.AI's track and created a solution that hypothetically monitors cyclists' POV, detects accidents (e.g. the cyclist fell off the bike), asks via audio whether the cyclist is okay, and "notifies the emergency services" if it doesn't receive a satisfactory answer.

The rationale for the product was to try and increase the survival chances of solo cyclists and victims of hit-and-run cases, when they are unable to request help themselves.

With the limited knowledge and time we had, we still managed to create a pretty neat solution and were quite creative. For example, the emergency services were simulated with a telegram bot. Our project receieved a special mention. You can find the project repo here.
